The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Crestview area teen with making an electronic threat of a mass shooting/terrorist act.
The 16-year old was taken into custody Wednesday night at his home.
The student allegedly created a video threatening to use explosives to blow up Crestview High School. According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, the video was placed on Snapchat.
The OCSO received information on the threatening social media post from the FBI.
The teen told deputies he made the video as a joke and was just being sarcastic. According to the arrest report, he stated that he wanted to continue a social media trend in which juveniles posted sarcastic videos made in a similar format to the one he posted.
Making a written or electronic threat of a mass shooting or terrorist act is a second degree felony, according to the sheriff’s office.

Tragic
Woah
This is extremely upsetting. I hope the parents of this young man sees this as a ” Cry for Help” and move forward in getting him evaluated., into counseling with a therapist and even sign him up for youth group in a local church. What concerns me is his age. He is old enough to know that this is not a game. Since He was comfortable enough to actually post this on Snapchat it indicates he was looking for attention. He had to resort to violence by threatening to literally kill his classmates and teachers in order to make sure he was heard. My thoughts and prayers will be focused on this young man and his family.
It’s Time To Pray.
