The former Regal Cinema location on Mary Esther Cutoff has been purchased for $2.3 million by M&P Developers FWB, LLC. The 1.24-acre property will soon be transformed into a 19,680 sq. ft. Aldi grocery store, with the exact same footprint as the Niceville location that opened in 2022.

  • The new grocery store, located at 427 Mary Esther Cutoff, will sit just in front of Publix.

The proposed parking spaces for the new store will include 99 spaces, with 37 on-site and 62 off-site. The store will also include 5 ADA compliant spaces, including 14 compact spaces along the right of way, according to site plans.

Aldi has a typical build time of 12 months for these stores, so the new store in Fort Walton Beach could potentially be open in the first quarter of 2024. A demolition permit has already been submitted.

The expansion of the Aldi brand is part of their “coast to coast” expansion plan, which was announced in February 2021. The plan included the opening of 100 new stores, as well as 500 pickup sites across the country, with Florida included in the expansion.

The new regional headquarters and distribution center in Loxley, AL will serve up to 100 stores in Alabama, southern Georgia, Mississippi, the Florida Panhandle, and Louisiana, according to Supermarket News.

Stay tuned for further updates on the progress of the new Aldi store in Fort Walton Beach.

  1. Excellent news about the Ft. Walton new location. I’m hoping the next will be Pensacola in the East Hill area or near by. The Navarre location is a bit far for us. Thanks for your consideration…

  2. Yes!!!!! I couldn’t get to wholes food haft the time. I still love Walmart and the other 2 but the more the merrier.

  3. Take a family attraction away to put a grocery store in a grocery stores parking lot. Lol.
We aren’t fans of Aldi, so they won’t have our business.

    1. Yes the Miramar beach area could use a Aldi’s. It is a high population area. They would not be sorry.

  4. It would have made a Great new multi denominational Worship center with all
Religions coming together under 1 roof like Baha’I center. Not another competitive od store. Boycott Aldi!!

    1. Yeah, just what this town needs is another worship center. Definitely not enough of those! And that would service how many residents vs an Aldi? Why would we boycott Aldi???? They sell groceries at an affordable price.

    2. Why boycott Aldi? They make their groceries affordable, no artificial dyes, no msg, etc, sorry not sorry but start boycotting walmart which in their brand marshmallows says “may contain traces of tilapia” a flipping fish!! Or their syrup, that states “may contain traces of anchovies” but what is the deal with people not liking aldis? Sorry that they are going in front of a publix but it ain’t like publix is gonna lose business just saying, people are still finna shop there, same aa walmart, yano? Why be so worried about that? Also a religious building so all religions can be under 1? Do you realize how ruthless and pushy a lot of Christians can be? Henceforth why I myself and alot of others are agnostic or atheist. But yeah, Christians will go up in that place and take it over, theoretically. We have enough religious buildings here in Florida. We don’t need more that won’t service the area as an affordable grocery store would.. if you’re so keen on a religious building, open your home up? I don’t know what to say, but a grocery store is better.. idk what yalls issues are!!

  5. I have missed going to Aldi since I moved here from Maryland. I almost went to the one in Niceville, but I didn’t want to drive over to it. Aldi might seem weird at first, but once you get used to it they offer an interesting selection at good prices. Don’t forget your quarter for the shopping carts/buggies.

I boycott Publix because their prices are so high. If you you don’t like a product Walmart sells then don’t buy the product.

There is a Salvation Army thrift store and mission building behind the Aldi location. The Salvation Army is my favorite thrift store because their prices and weekly sales are the best (SOCKs comes a close second), and they don’t ask you to round up or push religion (although the Bibles are free).

  6. I do like Aldi’s, but I wonder if Trader Joe’s will ever come here. The closest one is in Tallahassee…
