A 16-year-old bicyclist sustained minor injuries in a hit-and-run incident on State Road 85 at 9th Avenue in Crestview, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

  • The incident, which occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. on December 1, 2023, involved a juvenile male from Crestview. 

According to the FHP, the young cyclist was traveling south on the west sidewalk of State Road 85 when he crossed 9th Avenue. A brown sedan, described as being 10-15 years old and possibly showing signs of damage on its right side near the back door, was simultaneously turning onto 9th Avenue from the southbound lane of State Road 85.

The sedan, driven by a white female with purple hair, initially stopped after striking the bicyclist but then fled the scene on 9th Avenue. The juvenile, who was not wearing a helmet, was fortunate to sustain only minor injuries, according to the report.

The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking information from anyone who might have witnessed the incident or has knowledge about the brown sedan or its driver. Witnesses are encouraged to contact the FHP with any relevant information.
