Choctawhatchee High School’s football team secured a 14-0 victory over Crestview in a rainy Friday night matchup at Joe Etheredge Stadium on September 6, 2024.

The Indians’ ground game proved to be the difference-maker, with sophomore Von’tavius Keller leading the charge. Keller rushed for 131 yards on 24 carries, including a touchdown.

Sophomore quarterback Carter Marracco also contributed significantly to the running attack, gaining 108 yards on 8 carries and scoring a 33-yard touchdown of his own.

Choctawhatchee’s defense played a crucial role in the shutout, with juniors Ellis and Mario Alloway each recording 10 tackles. The defense also managed to create turnovers, with senior Jeremiah Clay and sophomore Amir Reese each intercepting a pass.

  • The Indians’ defensive dominance was further highlighted by their 7 pass deflections and 4 quarterback hurries.

Despite the loss, Crestview Senior Braylon Phillips led the Bulldogs’ receiving corps with 3 catches for 73 yards, including a long reception of 41 yards. Junior Patrick Rodgers contributed on both sides of the ball, leading the team in rushing with 29 yards on 5 carries and recording a tackle on defense.

  • Crestview’s defense put up a fight, with junior Max Anderson leading the team with 8 tackles, including 2 tackles for loss. Juniors Carlton Rainge and Jordyn Stoudmire also had strong performances, each recording 8 total tackles.

However, the Bulldogs’ offense struggled. Junior quarterback Jayzion Mcqueen completed 11 of 27 passes for 138 yards but threw two interceptions. The ground game was largely contained, gaining just 68 yards on 26 carries.

Choctawhatchee’s defense applied consistent pressure, with Ellis Alloway, Tristan Jackson, and Mario Alloway each recording a sack. The Indians’ defense also forced two fumbles, both of which were recovered.

  • Senior kicker Sam King was perfect on the night for Choctawhatchee, successfully converting both extra point attempts.
