At Friday’s special City Council meeting, Councilman Parker Destin made a motion to draft a letter to all grocery stores and pharmacies within the city limits to ask that they provide special shopping hours for the elderly (65+) and those who are immuno-compromised.

That letter has now been drafted and can be seen below:

“The City of Destin recognizes the important role grocery stores and pharmacies play in our community, especially during this challenging time.  The health and safety of our residents is our top priority, especially our seniors. We are asking our community partners to take action to support our citizens by helping to contain the spread of COVID-19. The Destin City Council requests that all grocery stores and pharmacies allow seniors to shop one hour before opening to the general public.

“The City appreciates everyone’s patience, support and understanding as we strive to support our residents and community.”
