Welcome to Destin, Florida
Welcome to Destin, Florida

At Wednesday night’s special city council meeting, the City of Destin unanimously voted to reopen beaches within the city limits.

Previously on March 20th, the Destin City Council unanimously voted to close all beaches in Destin. That closure included all private beaches which accounts for roughly 90% of the beaches in Destin.

This reopening follows the decision from Okaloosa County to reopen all county beaches in limited phases beginning May 1, 2020.

The beaches will be open from dawn to dusk with an effective start date of May 1, 2020 . This does not include James Lee Park or Henderson Beach State Park.

Regarding vacation rentals, Governor DeSantis extended the ban with no expiration date given at this point. For those wondering, there is nothing the City of Destin can do about that.
