In an abundance of caution, and in line with the Okaloosa County School District, the City of Fort Walton Beach will close its public facilities and suspend all recreation programming beginning Monday, March 16, until Monday, March 30, pending updates and direction from the Florida Department of Health. This is a protective measure to limit public gatherings and prevent the spread COVID-19.
City closures include the recreation center, library and museum. The golf course will remain open at this time.
Customer service at City Hall will remain open at this time, but customers are encouraged to make utility payments online. Anyone needing water connected or disconnected should call 850-833-9500, ext. 30521.
The Growth Management Department will remain open at this time. Customers needing building, inspection, permitting and code enforcement information are encouraged to use online resources at https://www.fwb.org/growthmanagement before visiting the office as many of these functions can be resolved online. Customers can also call 850-833-9607 with questions.
Sanitation services, including garbage, recycling, bulk items and yard waste will be picked up as scheduled.
Currently, the Special City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 17 at 6 p.m. at City Hall will take place. Decisions regarding other City meetings will be made at a later date.
Additional updates will be provided as City officials further assess the situation.
