The City of Fort Walton Beach will reopen the Pines Course at the Fort Walton Beach Golf Club on Thursday, April 16, 2020, at 8 a.m. This decision comes after the Governor’s Executive Order 20-91 and confirmation from the Governor’s Office through the North Florida PGA that golf is considered an essential activity as long as proper social distancing is maintained.

The FWB Golf Club temporarily closed on March 30th to provide time for City staff to plan for operations under the social distancing guidelines and to take necessary precautions to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 following CDC and Florida Department of Health recommendations.

“The City continues to make adjustments to recreational activities and amenities to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 while keeping as many opportunities as possible available to our community. At the FWB Golf Club, we are taking every precaution to ensure our golfers and staff are protected,” said City Manager Michael Beedie. “We want to provide our residents opportunities to be outside in a safe environment and enjoy the beautiful spring we are having. Golf provides great exercise and a chance to soak up the sunshine!”

These new precautions at the FWB Golf Club include:

  • Online and call-ahead tee times preferred. Walk-ups permitted, but not encouraged.
  • Credit/Debit card payments only – NO CASH.
  • One person in pro shop at a time.
  • Cashier shield in place.
  • Six feet of separation at all times anywhere on the property.
  • One person per cart (walkers allowed and encouraged).
  • Limit four to a group.
  • Additional sanitizing of carts before and after each round.
  • Pin stays in the hole.
  • Cup installed upside down to prevent ball from falling deep in hole.

Golfers may begin making online tee times immediately at www.fwb.org/teetime. Call-ahead tee times can be made beginning Wednesday, April 15, at 8 a.m. Call 850-833-9664.

Because of reduced maintenance personnel, the Oaks Course will remain closed at this time. The Fort Walton Beach Golf Club is located at 1955 Lewis Turner Boulevard, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547.
