Coast Guard searching for missing kayaker near Destin, FL

David Schink, the missing kayaker, departed Norriego Point in a blue and green kayak around 2:30 PM and did not return when expected.

The Coast Guard, and partner agencies, are searching for an overdue kayaker in Destin, Florida.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a notification at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Saturday from the family of David Schink, the missing kayaker, who departed Norriego Point in a blue and green kayak at around 2:30 PM and did not return when expected.

He was expected to return to the Poolside Villas around sunset. Mr. Schink, a white, 61-year old male, was last seen wearing shorts and a t-shirt, wearing a black and red life jacket.

He does not have his phone on his person, according to the Coast Guard and an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast was issued.
