Attorney Greg D. Crosslin has filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Health on behalf of several employees of Ascension Sacred Heart locations in Walton, Bay and Escambia counties.
- In the complaint, Crosslin states that his clients – who include doctors, nurses, and administrative staff – were told they have until Nov. 11, 2021 to become fully vaccinated as a condition of employment.
- Crosslin says this is a violation of state law.
“We have people at all three hospitals fighting back, they’re being coerced and basically kicked to the curb,” said Crosslin.
Crosslin adds that the mandate is a violation of Florida Statute §381.00316 which prohibits any business from mandating COVID-19 vaccines to participate with that business.
- He cited a case from this month where the Florida Department of Health fined Leon County the sum of $3.5 million for mandating employees have COVID-19 vaccinations and for the termination of non-vaccinated employees.
The Destin-based attorney explained long-standing federal and state laws also state you must be able to accommodate religious exemption requests for mandatory medical issues.
- He said Sacred Heart is denying every single request for such a religious accommodation.
