Make a stocking hanger that will hold the heaviest stocking firmly on the mantle, without having to damage the mantel. Forged from 1/4″ square stock this hanger centers the weight of the stocking under the mantel. To make this work for your mantel you will need to measure the distance from the wall to the edge of the mantel and the thickness of the mantel top. Bring a picture just in case. We will show you how to forge the correct shape to balance the load.
For any blacksmith class you must wear natural fabric (cotton) long trousers and closed toe shoes (leather is best, no Crocks!). Long sleeve natural fabric shirt is recommended as bare arms can get stung by scale on occasion. Other required safety gear is provided however if you have a leather apron you may want to bring it.
