Vertical Oyster Garden

April 18 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Free

“Harboring Change. Growing the Solution.” is a vertical oyster garden workshop free to attend!
Instead of your typical debris spring cleanup, we’re looking toward ecosystem restoration. The Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance and the City of Destin have teamed up to offer an oyster garden workshop at Captain Royal Melvin Heritage Park (200 Harbor Blvd) at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026.

Oyster gardens are an important aspect to the health of Destin’s Harbor waters. Oysters filter up to 50 gallons of water per day per oyster, improve water clarity, reduce excess nutrients, and support fish and marine habitat.

All oyster garden materials will be provided at the workshop. For patriotic pizzazz, we’ll have marine-safe markers on hand to decorate their oyster garden America 250 style.

The vertical oyster garden workshop will be April 18th from 1-2 p.m., and attendees will have the opportunity to see a vertical oyster garden that has been growing in the Harbor for over a year. Joining in harboring change and growing the solution!
