City of Fort Walton Beach expands Flag Football Leagues

The City of Fort Walton Beach Recreation Department will expand their flag football leagues this September for youth ages 5-12. Registration began Monday, August 24, at the FWB Recreation Center located at 132 Jet Dr and will be open through Thursday, September 10.

Practice and game schedules will be developed based on registration numbers. Fees are $25 for residents and $45 for non-residents.

The leagues are as follows (all leagues are co-ed):

  • Senior Flag (12U): Ages 11-12
  • Junior Flag (10U): Ages 9-10
  • Pee Wee Flag (8U): Ages 7-8
  • Flag Camp: Ages 5-6

Youth (Kindergarten-5th Grade) can join the Cheer/Spirit Team to perform cheers and routines at the Flag Football games. Contact Pat Sherman at 850-833-9581 for details about practices and schedules.

Games and practices for 12U and 10U will be held on Monday and Wednesday nights at the Preston Hood Athletic Complex. Games and practices for 8U will take place at the City Hall fields Monday and Wednesday. Game and practice times will be determined once registration ends.

The Flag Camp (ages 5-6) will be held on Monday and Wednesday nights for approximately one hour at the City Hall fields. The three-week camp will include instruction on fundamentals, rules of the game and drills. Camp participants will also scrimmage in a game setting.

Registration will take place at the FWB Recreation Center from August 24-September 10 (132 Jet Dr.). The facility is open from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Participants previously registered in FWB Recreation programs can register online at www.fwb.org/youthathletics.
