The Fort Walton Beach Public Library is hosting the Hogwarts Yule Ball on Saturday, December 7, at 5pm at the library located downtown at 185 Miracle Strip Pkwy SE.

This event is for all ages and guests are encouraged to dress in their ‘house colors’ or wizarding finest.

“We have had Harry Potter events for a couple of years,” said Patricia Gould, City of Fort Walton Beach. “Each time it’s been a little bit different. This is our first Yule Ball. We chose the Yule Ball theme due to the timing close to the holidays. Other Harry Potter events have been scheduled around Harry’s birthday or “Back to Hogwarts Day” September 1st.”

The first year the library help a Harry Potter event, they did separate kids’ and adults-only events. The kids events were very well attended, while the adult event was under-attended. Last year, they set it up for families and found that option to be less labor intensive than two events and more popular with local Harry Potter fans.

“The Harry Potter books and movies are so multi-generational in appeal, with sometimes two or even three generations becoming fans, that every family member can really be involved,” Gould said.

Come ready for refreshments, games, crafts, trivia, prizes, live music and more. This event is free to attend.
