In 2018, Islanders Outfitters made their return to Downtown Fort Walton Beach and set up shop in the same building where they started back in 1980.

The reopening was a homecoming for the Islanders family. They were glad to be back where they started but more importantly, their return represented growth. The new store would serve as their outlet store where shoppers could find discounts as high as 80% on some of their favorite brands.

The inventory at the outlet store also served their Amazon business account and is a main reason for the closing.

Amazon recently increased their merchant fees for those selling on the platform. That, along with price hikes from other shipping companies, has made it no longer worthwhile for Islanders to be a seller on Amazon.

While I am personally sad to see Islanders leave the Downtown footprint, owner John Hambleton told Get The Coast that he is happy about this decision as it will leave more time for family and other personal pursuits.

“With the closing of our outlet store we will also be able to focus on the two Islanders Outfitter stores and the newest Islanders Oasis store.”

Owner John Hambleton

Islanders will continue to operate their flagship store on the second floor of The Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island, along with their newest venture, Oasis, on the first floor. And their Pensacola Beach location will continue to serve customers.

The outlet store will be open until the end of April, or when all of the inventory is sold. The store will keep hours from 11:30am-5pm.

The location will be up for lease from Realty House. Any interested parties should contact Kevin Bethea.
