On Thursday morning, Okaloosa County Circuit Court Judge Michael Flowers announced his resignation from the bench.

“It has been a high honor to serve the people of Okaloosa County as a circuit court judge for the past 12 years,” said Judge Flowers on Thursday morning. “I have always sought to administer justice as fairly and efficiently as possible.”

Judge Flowers said that whatever contribution he has made to the judicial system has been due in large part to the incredible work of the staff at the courthouse, from his administrative support staff to bailiffs to clerks and more.

“These people are the true heroes of our court system and for them I will always be grateful,” he said.

As much as Judge Flowers has enjoyed and been fulfilled by working on the bench, he says it is now time for a new challenge and a new chapter.

“The rigors of elected office are substantial and, for some time, I’ve longed to return to private practice,” he said.

Earlier this week, Judge Flowers submitted his resignation to Gov. Ron DeSantis. He will immediately join the Anchors Smith and Grimsley law firm in Fort Walton Beach and resume the practice of law and representing clients throughout Northwest Florida

“I want to thank all who have supported me over the past 12 years with their counsel and friendship, with special gratitude to my family,” he said. “Now, I look forward to returning to my role as an advocate in our judicial system.”

  1. Just search “Judge Cut ‘Four Corners Rule’ In Axing ADA Case, Court Says” to find out Michael Flowers was forced to resign/fired due to his u ethical practices to dodge the judicial board. This guy is a joke and an embarrassment to the community. Hopefully the truth gets covered instead of acting like this guy had a commendable term

  2. The truth is he used my Flint Michigan murder case to give my son time here in Okaloosa county. I contacted the judicial board with proof!!
