Destin condos join their beach chairs together
As if the other viral posts on Facebook about the ongoing #beachwars weren’t sad enough, a new 360 degree photo emerged showing Destin condos seemingly joining their beach chairs together at the “wet sand line” to form a barrier. The picture posted by Ken Gettinger has exploded with comments and shares where Gettinger wrote, “So it looks like the Destin condos joined together and are setting up all their beach chairs right up to the mean high water line to keep the public from having anywhere to sit.” To read all the comments, click here.
Blue interstate signs with logos make a ton of money
We’ve all seen those blue interstate signs with logos on them as we get closer to an exit and needing gas or FOOD!!! Well, the Northwest Florida Daily News is reporting that these signs are a real money maker for the state generating annual revenue of $3.5 million. Hoops For Hope Basketball is back
Impact Emerald Coast’s “Hoops for Hope” charity basketball tournament is back and it’s going down on August 4th. Last year was a huge success with alumni from both Fort Walton Beach High School and Choctawhatchee High School competing for bragging rights, but more importantly, to help raise money for a child battling cancer. Choctaw’s gym was packed out last year and other schools wanted to get involved, so this year it’s all happening at the Raider Arena at Northwest Florida State College where former players from FWBHS, Choctaw, Crestview and Niceville will battle it out! Okaloosa looks to improve transit system
In response to numerous complaints from passengers about late or missed pickups, employees not answering the phone and other problems, Okaloosa County is hoping to fix that with the formation of a county transit department. According to The Destin Log, the new department will be tasked with working with the contracted operator, Maruti Fleet and Management LLC, to improve operations and overall customer satisfaction. Super chic and modern nail bar opens in FWB
Last week, Get The Coast welcomed a new neighbor into our Downtown FWB footprint, Polish Wax & Nail Bar. This brand new, super chic and modern nail salon is at the corner of Beal Parkway and Perry Ave (across from Beach Community Bank) and looks amazing! Owner Tiffani Nguyen gave us a tour which you can watch in the video!
