“It was clear the target of HB 631 was Walton County’s customary use ordinance.”
A new report from The Destin Log shows that Walton County was specifically targeted by HB 631. According to The Destin Log, attorneys at Hopping Green and Sams helped influence State Rep Katie Edwards-Walpole’s decision to amend HB 631 so that only Walton County would feel its impact. Walton County is the only county facing this controversy as Volusia and St. Johns counties were excluded from the amended bill. It’s suspected that these 2 counties were excluded so that there wouldn’t be push-back and the bill could get passed. To read the entire investigative report, click here.
“We are fully committed to making that training happen, sooner rather than later..”
At a city council meeting on Tuesday, members of the Progressives, a nonpartisan activist group, questioned the city on what they plan to do about racial bias training for the FWB Police Department and making sure the city is budgeting for this expense. This coming after the viral incident that happened at the Waffle House on Highway 98. In the video published on Facebook, City Manager Michael Beedie repsonded saying, “We are fully committed to making that training happen, sooner rather than later..” To read the entire article from the Northwest Florida Daily News, click here.
Two sedans, an SUV, a tow truck and a handgun were stolen
In Tuesday’s Daily Rundown we showed you the map of all the car burglaries that have happened this year. Well, just yesterday, more theft has happened. According to the Pensacola News Journal, two sedans, an SUV and a tow truck were stolen from the Navarre and Gulf Breeze area. In Okaloosa County, the Sheriff’s Office posted that another handgun was stolen along with the text message screenshot above that referenced all of the cars stolen from were unlocked. PLEASE, lock up your stuff!

Back to school sales tax holiday
You know the drill…The 2018 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday begins Friday, August 3, 2018, and runs through Sunday, August 5, 2018. During this sales tax holiday period, qualifying items will be exempt from tax including: certain school supplies selling for $15 or less per item; and clothing, footwear, and certain accessories selling for $60 or less per item.
