In an effort to get wealthier travelers who spend bigger, the Okaloosa Tourist Development Department is going after visitors from the UK who have the potential to spend more money. According to the Northwest Florida Daily News, the county will spend $14,900 in Tourist Development Department funds to have TDD Director Jennifer Adams and Digital Marketing Strategist Kerry Sutsko attend the World Travel Market in London from Nov. 5-7. Okaloosa County will partner with Visit Florida and Visit Pensacola for a larger presence at the show. For more details on the TDD’s plans, click here.
Nine+ new car washes in the area
Yes…you read that right. More than 9 car washes are coming to Northwest Florida, according to The Destin Log. While some argue that because we have over 4 million visitors coming through the area each year that there is a bigger demand for more car washes, other disagree and say more car washes will just hurt the business. Report clears 2 police officers of wrongdoing
Former Police Chief Ed Ryan and Captain Tracy Hart have been cleared of any wrongdoing after an investigation into 12 complaints turned up no evidence. The complaints come from Police Officer Don Hall and alleged of mishandled arrests, thousands of wasted dollars, promotions based on personal friendships and discriminated based on race and gender, according to the Northwest Florida Daily News. Officer Hall has been reinstated while Ryan stepped down prior to the investigation. To read more on the findings, click here.
Probe planned for SunPass
SunPass has caught up on a backlog of toll transactions that went unprocessed during an upgrade and has assessed nearly $800,000 in damages against contractor Conduent State & Local Solutions, according to the Northwest Florida Daily News.
