Destin talks emergency beach corridor, Local lawyer nominated as U.S. Attorney & Early voting locations

With the beaches as crowded as they are in the summer time, Destin city council is considering a new ordinance that would establish a 20-foot-wide safety zone from the wet sand. According to The Destin Log, the zone would provide a clear path for emergency personnel and give a clear site line for lifeguards. Walton Sheriff’s Office implements the Handle with Care Program

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office created the Handle with Care Program to improve police interactions with the public, according to The Walton Sun. The idea is that the public would disclose personal information they think deputies should know prior to traffic stops or emergencies to help them assist residents with special needs.
