In somewhat of a surprise move, HarborWalk Village is discounting their controversial $10 parking fee after Labor Day weekend. According to The Destin Log, HarborWalk will still charge on peak weekend but employees will now be allowed to park there once again (except on those peak weekends). Destin Charity Wine Auction donates $2.7 million to 15 charities
This was a big year for the Destin Charity Wine Auction and the charities that benefit from this awesome event. $2.7 million was raised and disbursed with each charity receiving at least $100,000. Destin City Council tables 2 beach ordinances
Destin City Council has decided to postpone making a decision on an ordinance proposing a 20-foot safety zone near the water as a path for emergency responders & a ban on motorized vehicles on private beaches. According to WEAR TV, the decision to wait was made after suggestions that the safety zone should be closer to the dune line; while others said two safety zones might be the way to go. Santa Rosa Commissioner Bob Williamson accused of printing fake text messages
Sandi Kemp, owner of the Navarre Press, has accused Santa Rosa Commissioner Bob Williamson of printing a series of false text messages in his most recent campaign mail out. The text messages printed on the mail out allegedly show an exchange between both Kemp and Williamson but Kemp states that the printed texts are not accurate or how it all went down. During a phone call with the Northwest Florida Daily News, when pressed as to why official public records of the text messages didn’t match what he printed, Williamson reportedly deflected the question. Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation receives donation from Kelly Trust
According to The Destin Log, on Monday, the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation was presented with a $109,000 check from the Imogene Kelly Revocable Trust.
