As we quickly approach the 2019 fiscal year beginning on October 1, the Okaloosa County Tourist Development Council has their eyes set on their new national sales and marketing plan. According to the Northwest Florida Daily News, the Emerald Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau’s plan includes $4.6 million worth of paid media, including promotions of the local area before, during and shortly after the 2019 Super Bowl. Suspect in Mary Esther stabbing has been apprehended
On Tuesday evening around 7pm, Mary Esther resident Avery Morris was stabbed at his home after returning home from work. 24-year-old Rogeric Coleman became the lead suspect in the investigation, as well as the whereabouts of Morris’ girlfriend, 30-year-old Stephanie Cahn. On Wednesday, both the suspect and girlfriend were located in Franklin County Georgia after being stopped for speeding. The victim’s girlfriend was unharmed and the investigation is ongoing.
South Walton to get a new healthcare facility
Construction on a new 6,700 sq.ft. healthcare facility at the entrance of Watersound on Highway 98 in South Walton County is set to begin. According to The Destin Log, the facility will be a multi-specialty ambulatory clinic offering primary care and OB/GYN services with the ability to expand up to 13,000 sq.ft. Pedestrian killed in Destin
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on Wednesday in the area of 300 Harbor Boulevard in Destin, Florida. According to the OCSO’s Facebook post, the driver of the vehicle was eastbound when the pedestrian was struck and killed.
Health advisory issued for 3 parks
After doing routine water sample testing, the Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County has issued a health advisory for the water next to Wayside Park on Okaloosa Island, Henderson Beach State Park in Destin and Rocky Bayou State Park in Niceville.
