The Destin City Council is trying to put together a short list of candidates for the position of Destin’s City Manager. Currently they have received 55 applications. According to The Destin Log, the 55 candidates applied for the position before the application deadline of Sept. 22. Interim City Manager and Destin Parks and Recreation Director Lance Johnson is included in the candidates. To read more on the store, click here.
FWB Local killed in crash
On Sunday morning around 5:30am, Zac McMahan was traveling north on State Road 87 when he drove onto the shoulder and overturned. According to WEAR TV, this ejecting him from the vehicle where he was then struck by a man driving north in a 2015 Toyota Prius. Zac was pronounced dead at the scene.
If you’re a Fort Walton Beach local under the age of 35 then there is a really good chance that you knew Zac McMahan. I’ve known Zac since we were in high school and he is incredibly well-known in the area.
Those close to the situation say he was headed back from a “celebration of life” for his friend Josh Hagan, who passed away on September 29th.
Destin Fishing Rodeo has officially started
It’s that time of the year…the Destin Fishing Rodeo is happening throughout the entire month of October. This is the 70th year for the event with daily weigh-ins taking place from 10am to 7pm at the marina behind AJ’s. According to The Destin Log, over 150 boats have been registered for the rodeo this year.
