After 23 years, PS Gifts in Fort Walton Beach is closing their doors and heading for retirement. First announced at their Open House last year, PS Gifts owners, Mayor Dick and Janey Rynearson, are ready to do more with their active family and in their community. Starting yesterday, PS Gifts is running a “Road to Retirement” sale with 25% off the entire store. Last day for Downtown Movie Theatre
We knew this was coming. Downtown Cinema Plus will close its doors on Thursday, after the building was sold and the rent was increased. According to WEAR TV, James Coleman has been leasing the historic Tringas Theater building since 2014. But, the movie theatre won’t be gone forever. Jayme Nabors and his company BLN LLC will renovate the old movie theatre and give it some new life with a 1960-style theme and will revert back to the original name, Suds and Cinema.
Destin City Manager finalist list by October 15
With 55 candidates currently vying for the job of Destin’s City Manager, the city council agreed on Monday to have each of the seven council members, including the mayor, publicly provide his or her top city manager finalists at the Oct. 15 meeting. According to The Destin Log, the council will then narrow down its lists of finalists and choose which top contenders will move on to the interview process. Lightning strikes the Bay Point golf course
Yesterday, the Bay Point Golf Club shared this picture on Facebook with the following caption after a storm passed.
Pretty intense storm came through yesterday afternoon. This is why if you see lightning you seek shelter on the course. #9 on the Nicklaus. Very cool but very powerful!
330-pound Warsaw grouper caught
Commercial fisherman Brandon Lee Van Horn caught this 330-pound Warsaw grouper. According to the Northwest Florida Daily News, he was out in 375ft of water when he caught this massive grouper and took 25 minutes to fight it to the surface. To read more on Brandon’s, click here.
