Bay County communication still scarce

Even though Verizon is trying to help establish more communication efforts in Bay County, it is still difficult to get service out in that area or internet. According to the Walton Sun, most roads in the county are impassable due to debris or water covering the roadway. On Thursday, the Bay County School District posted this update:

If you have been trying to reach a family member in Bay County please know that some Verizon service has been restored and communication is improving. Crews continue to work hard to clear our roads of countless downed trees and power lines to make travel safe and other crews are working to restore our infrastructure. Feeding stations are in the process of being set up and the National Guard is here distributing meals. Emergency Management is working hard to serve residents in this time of dire need and everyone’s patience and understanding is appreciated. Bozeman is still open as a shelter if there are people who evacuated but can no longer stay out of the county and need a place to stay.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

I just want to say a big THANK YOU to our entire area who woke up yesterday and began thinking of ways to help our neighbors to the east. It seemed like every time I opened up Facebook, there were more drop-off locations, people renting U-Hauls, our charter boat captains trying to get to Bay County and so much more. Those affected will need our help for near future and your continued efforts to help get them back on their way to normal is amazing! So, THANK YOU!

That’s all I’ve got for you today! Have a great and safe weekend!
