The First Underwater Museum in North America Opens in our Backyard
This first of its kind experience is located 0.7 miles off the shore of Grayton Beach and is 60 ft deep. This museum will help to expand fish populations by creating more marine habitat. Destin Fire Recap
Thursday night a brush fire ignited and burned over 1.5 acres of federal land near the Marler Bridge. It is believed to be caused by people shooting off illegal fireworks; according to South Walton Fire District, under Florida Law only sparklers are permitted for consumer use. The Crestview Bulletin put together a precaution list together with the help of the South Walton Fire District. Read about more precautions to take when it comes to fireworks here.
According to the Destin Log, biologists have said that they do not believe that any nesting species were affected by the fire. The species that could exist there are snowy plovers, least terns, black skimmers, Choctawhatchee beach mice and ospreys. Click here to read more.

Tribe Kelley is a lifestyle band owned by Brian and Brittney Kelley. Brian just so happens to be the front man for Florida Georgia Line. Summer Jam Concert Headliners: The Mulligans
Friday, July 13th the Summer Jam Concert will be at the Emerald Coast Conference Center on Okaloosa Island. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the opening act starting at 7 p.m. The Mulligans will headline for the 3rd year in a row and welcome Pelican212 as their opening act. This year a portion of proceeds will go to A Bed 4 Me Foundation; a non-profit organization that provides beds for children who would otherwise be sleeping on the floor or in inadequate spaces. East Pass Slacker Field Day
Over 50 people attended the inaugural East Pass Slacker Field Day on Saturday at the Boathouse Oyster Bar in Destin. Teams competed in games like tug-o-war and musical chairs while holding beers to raise money of Panhandle Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). The Ghost Crab
If you’ve been to the beaches here, you’ve probably seen the little white crabs running across the sand at night. These crabs have the ability to change color to blend in with their surroundings. Their scientific name, Ocypode Quadrata, the Ocypode means “fast feet” and they can run sideways up to 10 mph. While they are mostly seen at night, they do make the occasional daytime appearance.
