The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation started the Warrior Arts program over two years ago. According to The Crestview Bulletin, the Warrior Arts program offers free art classes to wounded warriors, active-duty military personnel and veterans. The Battle Continues in Santa Rosa Beach
A meeting was held on Tuesday to discuss the ongoing battle between Walton County beachfront property owners and county officials. The property owners ask that the county trash receptacles on their land be removed and say that they will take over garbage collection, The Northwest Florida Daily News stated. The property owners have demanded county vehicles no longer cross their land to pick up trash because they are trespassing. The county officials argue that 30 percent of all garbage collected in Walton County beaches last year came from receptacles on private property. Restaurants that Welcome your Pup
There are only a few restaurants that classify as “dog friendly” in the greater Fort Walton Beach Area, and even fewer with a menu for your pup. According to the Destin Log, World Of Beer at Destin Commons will serve your dog $2 rice bowls and a chicken or steak add on for $3 more. Harry T’s Lighthouse, located at HarborWalk Village, was the first business in Destin to be officially approved for “doggy dining” and more eventually followed suit, click here for the full article.
Food Service Job Fair in Northwest Florida

Learning and Living with Dolphins
Dolphins are protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) of 1972, which prohibits harassing or coming within 50 yards of dolphins in the wild. Captains of dolphin cruises should tell their boat guests about the laws and guidelines for viewing dolphins in the wild. There are MMPA guidelines to follow when boating around dolphins, so it can be done safely. The Destin Log has the full story.
Local Girl wins Langley Scholarship

Navarre has rare Black Skimmer
This years nesting season for the Black Skimmer began in late may, according to the Northwest Florida Daily News, and will likely last through August. These rare birds are a threatened species in Florida. They are nesting near the Santa Rosa Sound along with the Least Terns, which are also a threatened species.
