30a.com reported that last night Gov. Rick Scott signed an executive order urging Florida counties to protect public beach access and has directed the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to support these efforts. Unfortunately there is some confusion with this new legislation and some are even interpreting it as beach access restriction. The Destin Log took notice that this new order has done nothing to resolve the issue of private property versus customary use questions, like the one Walton County is facing now. City Council has asked Destin City Manager to resign
Carisse LeJeune, who has been City Manager of Destin since 2016, submitted her letter of resignation to the City Clerk on Wednesday. According to The Destin Log, four of the seven council members voted July 2 to ask LeJeune to resign due to issues such as a lack of trust in LeJeune and tension between staff and the City Council.
