Okaloosa County’s commuters and residents may notice some unusual activity along their morning commute Thursday, October 3rd at about 7am where Highway 90 crosses over the Shoal River.

Okaloosa County Corrections and Emergency Medical Services have teamed up with the Florida Department of Corrections (OCDOC), the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Crestview Police Department, the Military, North Okaloosa Medical Center and Northwest Florida State College to run an emergency scenario.

The scenario features an OCDOC inmate transport crashing with injuries and an escaped inmate.

While the scenario is for training purposes, Okaloosa County asks that you drive with extreme caution, so as to ensure the safety of the participants.

“The County is excited to join the North Okaloosa Medical Center and local emergency response agencies to better train our first responders in caring for our citizens.”
