This week on Everything! We’re sitting down with Jennifer Adams of the Okaloosa County CVB and also telling you about a few awesome events happening this weekend.

This segment is brought to you by Eglin Federal Credit Union.

What is the CVB and what is your job there?

“So we are the Emerald Coast Convention and Visitor Bureau. So that’s the CVB part. We are funded by bed tax collections that come into our taxing district and under the CVB. We have the Welcome Center Program and we do all of our marketing administration. We have our restoration program and Emerald Coast Convention Center so we have a lot of various entities under one big umbrella.”

What is the new Beach Ambassadors Program?

“So last year we kicked off what is called the Know Before You Go Campaign and you can see all of our billboards and signage. It’s really a prompter to give people a place to go when they have questions about some of our public safety. If you go to the Know Before You Go page on our website on emeraldcoastfl.com you’ll have information about beach flags, about safety, and things that people don’t really know about.”

“In addition this year, because we know we have a lot of people at our beaches, we are going to be putting some beach ambassadors out. This is in conjunction with public safety. Their job is to talk to people, let them know about the proper etiquette on the beach, where the resources are and then just welcome them to our area. And so we are really excited about that.”

“It’s a great way to interact.”

“They’ll give up some data during the summer that we can’t necessarily get because we’re not on the beach everyday. And that helps us balance towards them and our growth which is a main vision for the CVB: To balance that growth, that visitation, year round, so it has some harmony with the local quality of life.”

We are becoming a fly destination

“We’re becoming a fly destination as well. Allegiant has announced several new routes this winter and starting Thursday we do daily nonstop flights to Orlando and back through Silver Airlines.”
