Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society in Fort Walton Beach is having to alter the ways in which they serve the community and pets.

Effective immediately, the low-cost clinic will be closed to the public through April 7. If you have an appointment, PAWS says it will be rescheduled. Clinic staff will remain focused on the care of in-house animals.

PAWS is asking that you PLEASE refrain from surrendering your pet until at least April 8. If you need pet food, contact the shelter.

“Unfortunately, we’re VERY FULL,” said PAWS. “To make matters worse, puppy and kitten season has started, meaning litter after litter is arriving.”

If you would like to foster animals, email pawsspayneuterclinic@gmail.com. Include your phone number so shelter can reach you right away. PAWS provides all supplies and medical care.

You can view information online about PAWS animals up for adoption. Go to paws-shelter.org and click “adopt.” For more information about adopting, email pawsdogadopt@gmail.com or pawscatadoptions@gmail.com
