As of Thursday night, following the canvassing of the First Unofficial Results of the August 18, 2020, Primary Election, the Okaloosa County Canvassing Board has ordered a machine recount of the ballots for the Okaloosa County Commission District 5 race.
150 votes separates Parker Destin from Mel Ponder, who is currently ahead. Any election less that a 0.5% difference goes to a recount.
The Okaloosa County Canvassing Board will meet at 8:00 am on Saturday, August 22, 2020, to conduct that recount.
The recount will occur at the Okaloosa County Supervisor of Elections Office, 302 N Wilson St., STE 102, Crestview, Florida 32578. The recount will be open to the public.
Persons with disabilities requiring reasonable accommodations to attend should call the Supervisor of Elections Office at 850-689-5600, prior to the meeting.
