HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital’s post-anesthesia care unit has been recognized with the 2024 HCA Healthcare Unit of Distinction Award, the hospital announced Monday.

  • The award honors exemplary nursing units across HCA Healthcare’s network based on measurable performance in advocacy, leadership, nursing practice consistency and improving patient care.

“I am incredibly proud to acknowledge the outstanding achievement of our PACU nursing unit in winning the Unit of Distinction Award,” said Morgan Talley, chief nursing officer. “This honor reflects the dedication, compassion, and excellence that each member of our team brings to our facility every day.”

The hospital’s outpatient surgery department also earned recognition by ranking in the top 5% of HCA facilities, while the critical care and inpatient medical units received honorable mentions.

In a ceremony broadcast from HCA Healthcare’s headquarters in Nashville on April 15, a total of 197 nursing units were recognized. Units of Distinction represent the top five percent of all HCA Healthcare nursing units across multiple specialties, including medical surgical, critical care, emergency services and behavioral health.

  • The Unit of Distinction program, launched in 2015, is part of HCA Healthcare’s strategic nursing plan that invests in technology, clinical education and professional development opportunities.

“True innovation happens at the bedside and the Unit of Distinction program celebrates the best of HCA Healthcare,” said Sammie Mosier, senior vice president and chief nurse executive of HCA Healthcare.

HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital, located at Highway 85 N and College Boulevard in Niceville, is a 65-bed acute care hospital with more than 150 physicians on staff. It offers private rooms, a state-of-the-art surgery center and 24-hour emergency services, among other specialized care programs.
