Can you believe the start of the school year is right around the corner? Although I’m sure many of us are ready for the routine, why not make the last week of summer break extra special for your kiddos? Here are some ideas to make this last week of summer break one to remember.

Outdoor Family Movie

This week there are several opportunities for a fun outdoor family movie! Check out our summer outdoor movie guide for more upcoming events. Here are the ones playing this week:

Rise Open House and Fall Registration

If your kiddo is interested in learning to dance, consider stopping by Rise Dance Studio on Saturday, August 10! They’ll be having an open house, mini classes, prizes, and Swell Popsicles! This is a great opportunity to get your child involved in an extracurricular activity and get to meet the teachers while you’re there.

Beach Luau Party at Al’s Beach Club

Thursday, August 8, enjoy a beach luau with the whole family at Al’s Beach Club. There will be live music, free leis, face painting, balloon animals, food and drink specials, and a limbo contest!

Cool down with a sweet treat!

Nothing screams summertime as a kid like cooling down with an ice cream cone. We’ve put together a guide to some of the local’s favorite sweet treats. Check it out here!

Niceville Children’s Park

Let your kids splash and play at the Niceville Children’s Park! There are park attendants that ensure the park is always a safe and clean place for your children to play.

Fireworks

Wednesdays at 9PM you can catch a fireworks display on Okaloosa Island! Get more information here.

Open Gym at Emerald City Gymnastics

Friday evenings from 7:30-9:00 PM, Emerald City Gymnastics hosts open gym for kids 6 and up. The cost is $10 per child. For more information, contact Emerald City Gymnastics at 850-863-3991.

More ideas

If none of those ideas sparked your interest, here’s more!

  • Go to Big Kahunas
  • Have a beach day
  • Attend the Blue Angels practice in Pensacola (Friday, August 9 from 11:30AM-12:30PM)
  • Check out the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola
  • Explore Fort Pickens
  • Make art using recycled materials at Red Bird Art Experience
  • Let your kids blow off some energy rock climbing at Rock Out
