A woman’s body was found in a wooded area on Maples Street near Beal Parkway in Fort Walton Beach on Monday morning.

According to the city, the Fort Walton Beach Police Department received a call regarding the body around 10am. Officers arrived on-scene and confirmed that there was deceased woman in the area.

The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Erin Elizabeth Hindes. She is believed to be homeless. A full investigation is being conducted. All unattended deaths are investigated as homicides until proven otherwise.

An autopsy was performed today. Investigators are awaiting official results and cause of death. More information will be released as it becomes available.
