Chloe Bailey is making no-hitters look routine.
- The junior and South Alabama commit followed up her perfect game in the district championship with another no-hitter Wednesday night, leading Niceville past Fleming Island 3-0 to advance to the Sweet 16.
Bailey struck out 13 in the circle, and Fleming Island’s Emily Williams matched her through two and a half innings of scoreless ball before the Lady Eagles broke through in the third.
Krissa Troutman, Quinn Graham, and Briana Noles opened the inning with three straight singles. Bailey grounded into a fielder’s choice that retired Troutman at home, but Carnley Summerlin ripped a two-run single that scored Graham and Noles to put Niceville ahead 2-0.
The Lady Eagles added an insurance run in the fifth. Graham singled, Williams walked Bailey, and Summerlin singled to load the bases. Valerie Malley then hit an RBI fielder’s choice that brought Graham home.
Niceville will host the winner of Thursday night’s Gulf Breeze-Ponte Vedra game in the Sweet 16.
