Cox Communications announced that its underground fiber lines in Fort Walton Beach were cut late yesterday, resulting in service disruptions for some customers in the area.

  • The incident occurred during underground broadband and utility infrastructure construction, an issue that sometimes happen during this type of work.

Upon notification of the cut, Cox’s teams promptly responded and began making the necessary repairs to resolve the problem. The company apologized to all affected customers for any inconvenience caused by the service interruption.

“We’re working with the other company to prevent such incidents in the future,” Cox said in a statement.

  • Cox encouraged customers to log in to the Cox app on their mobile devices for up-to-date information on service restoration.

  1. Will WFH customers that depend on the COX internet service be given prorate for loss of service, not to mention wages lost for not being able to work (for those that do contract work remotely).

    1. Hopefully you have cox business. Not that it would have helped here, but if you’re working on regular internet, they don’t care.

  2. If the lines were located correctly and dug up to verify the locate and cox had someone on location when the work was being done then this cut line would or should have been avoided.

    1. As a former fiber technician I can say 1 of 2 things happened the site was not located or it was located and they cut it regardless either way they have a huge bill coming to them

  6. I work from home as an influencer. I have a YouTube channel where I teach how to make balloon animals. If my internet doesn’t stay up I have to do this live for tourists in the Alvin’s Island parking lot…and the commute is horrendous. #ThanksCox
