Harbor Docks Charities will hold its 40th annual Take a Kid Fishing Day Auction on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Harbor Docks Downstairs Bar.

  • Doors open at 6 p.m. for the silent auction, and live auction bidding begins at 7:30 p.m. A $20 cover charge includes food and a bidder number. Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce CEO Ted Corcoran will host the event and serve as auctioneer.

Packages available during the silent and live auctions include a weeklong vacation in Livingston, Montana, overnight fishing trips, restaurant packages and Yoshie’s catered Christmas or office party for up to 30 people.

Proceeds help fund the annual Take-A-Kid Fishing Day, held the first Sunday in November. More than 10,000 children have been treated to a day of fishing on local charter boats over the past 30 years. Each child is fed breakfast, taken fishing, treated to a fish fry and given a T-shirt and a rod and reel to take home.

Harbor Docks Charities also supports Destin Harvest in its effort to feed the hungry in the area. For the past 31 years, Harbor Docks has provided a Thanksgiving feast for more than 35,800 guests. Money raised has helped fund homes for Habitat for Humanity.

Organizers are seeking donated items for the auction. Those interested in donating or seeking more information can call Jackie at Harbor Docks at 850-837-2506.
