International Coastal Cleanup returns to Destin-Fort Walton Beach area Sept. 20

Local organizations partner to offer family-friendly beach cleanup with contests, prizes and complimentary breakfast at three locations.

Destin-Fort Walton Beach Tourism, Saltwater Restaurants and community partners will host the International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, from 8-10 a.m.

  • The 2025 International Coastal Cleanup Day Beach Cleanup event will take place at five locations throughout the area. It is a fun event for the whole family, featuring cleanup contests with prizes and free event t-shirts.

The cleanup locations include:

  • The Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island (1450 Miracle Strip Pkwy SE in Fort Walton Beach)
  • The Crab Trap/James Lee Park (3500 Scenic HWY 98 in Destin)
  • The Surf Hut (551 Scenic Gulf Dr. in Miramar Beach)
  • June White Decker Park (1950 Scenic Hwy 98 in Destin)
  • Henderson Beach State Park (17000 Emerald Coast Pkwy in Destin)

Participants at three locations will receive complimentary breakfast following the cleanup. The free post-cleanup breakfast will be served at The Boardwalk, The Crab Trap and The Surf Hut.

Volunteers should bring their own bucket, mesh bag, gloves and trash grabbers. Organizers also recommend bringing water bottles and sun protection.
