ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Kenzi Prosser found volleyball by accident, and now she’s making history at Destin High School

Athlete of the Week is brought to you by Okaloosa Gas District – supporting the athletes who make our community stronger.

Kenzi Prosser had been dancing since she was 3 years old when her family moved from Illinois to Destin before her seventh-grade year. She planned to keep dancing at Destin Middle School, but was unable to tryout.
So she gave volleyball a shot instead.
She quit dance soon after. Five years later, Prosser is a senior captain, a Citadel commit and the leading hitter for a Destin team that won the first district championship in program history last week, and their first playoff win last night.

Fort Walton Beach recovered an onside kick to open the second half and kept giving itself chances all the way to the final drive.

Okaloosa expects first hurricane debris pass to take about a week; Fort Walton Beach estimates a month

Okaloosa County officials say their debris contractor’s first pass should take about a week, while Fort Walton Beach estimates its contractor will need about a month to cover the entire city.
County crews began on the south end Oct. 14, then started the north end, and plan a second push along the same routes.
In Fort Walton Beach, DRC Emergency Services crews were working near Waynel Circle as of Tuesday. DRC crews work seven days a week from sunup to sundown. The city said weather, bagged debris, mixed piles and debris under utility lines or tree canopies could cause delays.
