Drivers on State Road 293 (Spence Parkway) in Okaloosa County may encounter intermittent daytime lane closures this week as crews carry out paving operations between the Mid-Bay Bridge and Range Road, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

The closures are scheduled from Tuesday, Oct. 20, through Thursday, Oct. 22, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., FDOT said.

Advance warning signs, traffic control devices, variable message boards and traffic flagmen will help direct motorists through the work area, according to the department.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather, FDOT said.

The department reminded drivers to use caution when traveling through the work zone, especially at night, and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.

Speeding fines are doubled when workers are present, according to FDOT.
