Airport Road milling and resurfacing in Destin begins Monday

Destin's Airport Road milling and resurfacing project begins Monday, and motorists should expect lane closures and delays through Nov. 12, according to a city advisory.

Milling and resurfacing work on Airport Road in Destin is scheduled to begin Monday, according to a traffic advisory from the City of Destin.

  • The project covers Airport Road from the curve near Destin Executive Airport to U.S. Highway 98, the city said in the advisory, which was posted Oct. 27.

Crews will mill the existing asphalt Nov. 2-4, according to the city’s project schedule. Cleanup and milling around intersections, curves and manholes is set for Nov. 5-6.

Asphalt resurfacing is scheduled for Nov. 9-11, followed by final cleanup and removal of traffic control devices Nov. 12.

Temporary striping, followed by permanent striping, will be scheduled as soon as possible after Nov. 11, the city said.

Motorists should anticipate temporary lane closures, traffic delays and construction equipment operating in the area, according to the advisory. The city asked drivers to use caution, reduce their speed and follow all posted traffic control signs and flagger instructions.

Access to businesses and properties along Airport Road may be temporarily affected during construction, the city said.

All work is weather permitting, and the schedule is subject to change, according to the city.
