Niceville, Crestview lifters compete at 3A state weightlifting championships

Brodie Lacanilao and Jaxon Caudill each earn top-10 finishes for their respective programs at the state meet in Lakeland.

Niceville and Crestview sent their qualifiers to the RP Funding Center on Day 2 of the 2026 FHSAA Boys’ Weightlifting State Championships, with the 3A competition taking center stage.

Both programs came away with top-10 finishes as Brodie Lacanilao represented the Eagles and Jaxon Caudill carried the flag for the Bulldogs.

Niceville in Olympic

Lacanilao was one of two state qualifiers for Niceville in the Olympic lifts and made the most of his trip to Lakeland. He finished 10th in the 139-pound class with a 400-pound total, putting together a 185-pound snatch and a 215-pound clean and jerk.

Trimarcus Mays was the Eagles’ lone qualifier in traditional. Mays hit a 285-pound bench press but was unable to record a successful clean and jerk attempt.

Crestview in traditional

Caudill earned the Bulldogs a top-10 showing in the 169-pound class, finishing 10th with a 565-pound total. He posted a 330-pound bench press and a 225-pound clean and jerk. Caudill’s 10th-place finish came down to a tiebreaker, as he finished with the same total as Bartram Trail’s Caleb Thomann and Oviedo’s Brandon Bonin.

Crestview in Olympic

The Bulldogs did not have a top-10 finisher in the Olympic lifts. Carson Swotek led the way for Crestview with a 455-pound total, recording a 260-pound snatch and a 195-pound clean and jerk.
