A historic season for Niceville flag football came to an end Monday night, as the Lady Eagles fell 21-7 to defending region champion and state runner-up Chiles.

  • The loss closed the book on a program-record 16 wins, a district title and the first playoff victory in Niceville history.

Chiles quarterback Kendall Sadberry proved difficult to contain, racking up more than 150 multipurpose yards and two touchdowns. The Lady Timberwolves added another score on a touchdown pass from Ellis Smeltzer to Kaitlyn Fagan.

Chiles’ defense also limited the Niceville offense. Quarterback Peyton Carter threw two interceptions as the Lady Eagles managed just one score.

Despite the result, the future remains bright in Niceville. The Lady Eagles return nearly every key contributor in 2027, with seniors Layla Hughes and Kate Robertson the only significant departures.

Carter is set to return at quarterback, along with WR1 Avery Cowles. The pass rush of Carly King, Gabby Valdez and Jayda Gilyard will be back, as will Eden Shaw and RaMyan Tripeaux. Freshman running back Jori Brechler, who emerged as a standout this season, also returns.

Chiles advances to face Ponte Vedra on Thursday night. Ponte Vedra defeated Bartram Trail 26-7 on Monday.
