Northwest Florida State College is bringing back its popular ‘Kids on Campus’ summer program for 2026, offering local families an opportunity to give their children a taste of college life while school is out.
- The summer enrichment camp, designed for students entering third through seventh grades, combines academic exploration with hands-on activities in a college setting. The program is marketed as striking “the perfect balance between serious and fun,” giving young learners a chance to develop new skills and interests alongside their peers.
Online registration opens March 30, with two weeklong sessions available at the Niceville campus:
- Session 1: June 22-26
- Session 2: July 6-10
A third session will also be offered at the South Walton Center from July 13-16, expanding access for families in Walton County.
A college experience for young learners
Kids on Campus places elementary and middle school students directly on NWFSC’s campus, where they participate in programming designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence. The format allows children to experience what a college environment feels like while engaging in age-appropriate classes and activities.
- “Kids on Campus gives students a chance to step into a college setting and explore their interests in a supportive and engaging environment,” said Rhonda Springfield, Executive Director of K-12 Programs at NWFSC. “It’s an incredible opportunity for children to build confidence, make new friends, and discover the joy of learning beyond the traditional classroom.”
While specific course offerings vary by session, the program typically includes options spanning creative arts, STEM exploration, and interactive learning experiences. The camp has become a summer tradition for many families across Okaloosa and Walton counties, with sessions historically filling up quickly after registration opens.
How to register
Families interested in enrolling their children can register beginning March 30 at 8 a.m. through the college’s website.
