OCSO: 21-year-old killed in Destin crash while riding electric bike

A 21-year-old Fort Walton Beach man was killed Monday night when a vehicle struck his electric bike on Highway 98 in Destin, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

A 21-year-old Fort Walton Beach man was killed Monday night when a vehicle struck his electric bike on Highway 98 in Destin, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

  • The crash occurred around 11:15 p.m. when the man was reportedly heading east in the westbound bike lanes on Highway 98. A vehicle changing lanes struck the rider in the area of 1050 Highway 98, sheriff’s officials said.

The victim was wearing dark clothing at the time of the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.

First responders arrived at the scene and worked to save the rider, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the death.
