Suspect in custody for fatal shooting of 20-year-old man in north Okaloosa County

A motorist found the victim in the roadway on Taylor Road north of Crestview early Wednesday morning.

A 20-year-old Mary Esther man was found fatally shot on a road north of Crestview early Wednesday morning, and a suspect has been taken into custody in another jurisdiction, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

  • A motorist called 911 shortly before 6 a.m. to report a man lying in the roadway on Taylor Road off Lake Silver Road. Deputies who responded to the scene found the victim deceased with shell casings near his body.

Investigators “meticulously” processed the scene for evidence, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The agency said a suspect is now in custody in another jurisdiction. Additional details are expected to be released at a later time.
