Okaloosa approves restroom facility for Cinco Bayou boat launch

The board unanimously approved the $120,918 purchase order to CXT Inc. for the restroom facility as part of ongoing boat ramp upgrades.

The Okaloosa Board of County Commissioners approved a purchase order for a prefabricated bathroom facility at the Cinco Bayou boat launch during their Nov. 18 meeting.

  • The board unanimously approved the $120,918 purchase order to CXT Inc. for the restroom facility as part of ongoing upgrades to the boat ramp area. The item was included on the consent agenda.

The bathroom will be installed near the former three-story former bank building at 198 Eglin Parkway NE that the county purchased in March for $2.95 million, which will serve as the new Tourism Development Department headquarters.

The restroom facility is one of several improvements planned for the Cinco Bayou boat launch site. In March, the board approved a $4.1 million project that included acquiring the 13,859-square-foot building and two vacant parcels at 4 Lucille St. and 254 Seaway St. for development of a boat trailer parking area to enhance the existing boat ramp facility.

  • The boat ramp redevelopment includes additional boat parking, bathrooms, stormwater management, cameras, lighting, buffers for neighboring residential properties, boat dockage improvements and shoreline stabilization. The county will operate and maintain the boat ramp facility.

The prefabricated restrooms typically require eight to 10 months for delivery and installation, according to county documents.

  1. Clearly the ones making these decisions don’t use this launch! They don’t need a bathroom there, they need more parking spots for trucks with trailers!
