Teen arrested after threatening social media post targets two Okaloosa County middle schools

A local teenage girl faces two felony charges after the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office investigated a threatening TikTok post targeting Pryor and Bruner middle schools.

A local teenage girl was arrested Sunday afternoon after the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office investigated a threatening social media post that targeted two local middle schools, the agency said.

  • The post, which circulated on TikTok and contained a threatening message directed at students at Pryor and Bruner Middle Schools, prompted the OCSO and the Okaloosa County School District to launch an immediate response.

“Our School Resource Officers, Patrol deputies and Investigations Division immediately began working to identify the person behind the post and assess the credibility of the threat,” the OCSO said in a statement. “Their coordinated efforts led investigators to the suspect.”

The OCSO first announced it was aware of the post around 12:30 p.m. Sunday and said it was “taking the matter seriously and following established investigation protocols.” By 4:04 p.m., the agency announced it had made an arrest.

The suspect, a local teenage girl, is in custody facing two felony charges. Investigators determined the teen did not appear to have access to weapons, and the threat was not deemed credible, the OCSO said.

“We want to thank everyone who shared information and helped us get to the bottom of this quickly,” the agency said.

The OCSO asked anyone with additional information to contact the agency at 850-651-7400 or Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at 850-863-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted through the P3 Tips mobile app.
