Vue on 30a, one of the most recognized restaurants along the beaches of South Walton, has permanently closed after inspectors found water intrusion and indoor air quality problems in the building, Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club announced Monday.
- The closure ends a run that dates to 1971, when the property first opened as the “Beach Club” before eventually becoming the Gulf-front fine dining destination known as Vue on 30a.
Club officials said the problems were discovered during routine maintenance, prompting them to bring in outside professionals for a full assessment. That evaluation confirmed water intrusion and related air quality conditions affecting portions of the building.
The club said the issues could be fixed but would require a significant financial investment and an extended timeline. Because the building was already slated for replacement under the club’s long-range master plan, the Board of Directors opted to close Vue on 30a permanently rather than pour money into the aging structure.
The board said the decision was made “out of an abundance of caution for members, guests and staff.”
“Vue has been so much more than a restaurant. It has been part of the fabric of this Club and this community for generations,” Steve O’Brien, president of the Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club Board of Directors, said in a statement. “We are incredibly grateful for everything Vue has meant to our members, our employees and the 30A community.”
Over its decades of operation, the restaurant earned recognition as “Best Fine Dining” from Visit South Walton and was named a “Most Booked” restaurant on OpenTable.

Very sad to hear this news. What a wonderful spot in Dune Allen. The best view on 30a. Our rehearsal dinner was held there in 1992, full of fond memories so sad to see it go!
